Uganda: Govt Will Defend Evicted Tenants, Says Museveni

Kampala — PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has promised free legal services to victims of land evictions, a practice he said has rendered many people landless.

According to a statement from State House issued yesterday, the President, who was addressing residents of Kiryabyoya village, Nakitoma Sub-county in Nakasongola District, said: "The government will provide lawyers to defend tenants in courts of law, free of charge."
