Abuja — The federal government will go beyond its budget and seek other options in financing dilapidated infrastructure in the country.
Minister of Economic Planning and Deputy Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Mohammed Dagash stated this yesterday while speaking at the ongoing 13th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja.
The minister said the government would explore many financing options to embark on massive infras-tructural upgrade.
Dagash said leverage of crude oil wells, assets privati-zation are some of the options to get more money in financing its projects.
The minister said the gov-ernment has no plan to take loans to finance any infra-structure project for now, saying the lessons of the past were enough.
According to him, the issue of data has to be taken into consideration because government can not have concrete plans without data.
