Mogadishu — The London-based newspaper, Sharkal Awsat reported this morning that the Somali prime minister arrived in Djibouti, and had clandestine talks with Abukir Omar Adani, who was a very prominent member in the Islamic Courts Union.
The paper said that it had come to know that Gedi received a letter from Adani who requested from him (Gedi) to meet him in Djibouti, in the presence of President Ishmael Omar Gelle, who is to conclude their long existing enmity.
In the trip PM Gedi is accompanied by his exterior minister Mr. Hussein Elabe Fahiye. One of the objectives of the mission is to wheedle Adani to attend the second phase of the national reconciliation conference of which its first phase ended last week.
On the other hand the paper said, soon after the Djibouti meeting the foreign minister will depart to Rome to attend a summit which will open on Monday for the Somali contact group.
The transitional government said that it is very much optimistic about the out come of the summit, and they said in the summit they will demand for the African troops to be deployed urgently.
Mr. Elabe the foreign minister said that he wall pressurize the international community to pay the expenses of the planned African troops which are due to arrive in Somalia.
