Mendefera

The Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman, said that the existing religions in the country have been co-existing in harmony for the last 1,000 years. He made the remarks in a meeting held in the town of Mendefera on September 4 with the staff of the Southern regional administration, members of the Faithful, and others.

Sheik Al-Amin called on nationals to steadfastly uphold both their faith and nationalism, and thereby step up their participation in all-round national reconstruction and development endeavors.

The Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, on his part, stressed the commitment of the Eritrean people to their faith, and expressed appreciation to Sheik Al-Amin Osman for visiting the region.

In the tour, the Eritrean Mufti observed the 20-hectare vegetable irrigation farming site through waters from the Dirko Micro Dam, as well as the promising crop situation in the sub-zones of Emni-Haili, Mendefera and Dubarwa. He also visited the Warsay Micro Dam that has a capacity of holding over 3 million cubic meters of water and is expected to irrigate more than 200 hectares.
