A spokesman of the Somali Congress for Liberation and Reconstitution and former Information Minister , Mr. Zekaria Mahmoud, said that the Congress is attracting world attention for its objectives, principles and big participation.
Regarding yesterday's extensive and in-depth discussion, he told reporters that participants conducted wide-ranging discussions on key issues, including the TPLF regime's invasion of Somalia with US support and the atrocities the invaders are committing against the people of the country, as well as the silence of the international community. Moreover, the discussion highlighted the TPLF regime's violation of international laws and the UN Charter, bringing the TPLF regime's crimes against the people to international court, and other significant and timely issues.
Congress participants stressed the need for the international community to live up to its responsibility as regards taking punitive action against the invading regime, and calling on the US Administration and the EU in particular to give close attention and support to the just struggle of the Somali people, and apply the necessary pressure on the Ethiopian regime to put an end to the atrocious crimes it is committing in Somalia.
Pointing out the baseless US allegation that there exist terrorists in Somalia, Mr. Zekaria stated that such allegations is designed to cover up its hidden agenda to be implemented through the TPLF regime. He went on to indicate that the Congress participants underscored the fact that there are no terrorists in Somalia, and that the US Administration should desist from the policy of undermining peace and stability in the region.
The spokesman of the Congress further underlined that Ms. Janday Frazer, US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, who once again made a statement in contempt in Addis Ababa at a time when the Congress for Liberation and Reconstitution of Somalia is in progress, the participants stressed that she is to be held accountable to history.
Indicating that while the Congress is underway, Somali fighters have already liberated 5 zones in Mogadishu from the TPLF regime's invading forces as the congress, Mr. Zekaria disclosed that in the face of defeat, the invaders bombarded Sukahala market center killing a number of innocent Somali citizens.
