Amun former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association appointed Tella as the Coach of the U-17 national team but got barrage of attacks in return from many quarters for appointing a Class room Teacher as Coach of the Eaglets. But Amun laughed to scorn yesterday and congratulated Nigerians for his wisdom in appointing "an illegal coach" that has won the World Cup for the country.

Amun's appointment of Tella was labeled as 'illegal' by the former Chairman of the NFA, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima who then embattled appointed his own coaches for the same U-17 team. Amun who won the U-17 World Cup in Japan in 1993 with such great players like Wilson Oruma and Nwankwo laughed at those who derided him for appointing Tella as coach.
