Asmara — The Ministry of Information today graduated staff members who have been following journalism course in the University of Asmara.
Speaking at a ceremony held in Hager Media Hall within the premises of the Ministry, Mr. Ali Abdu indicated that in continuation of the efforts it is exerting to develop human resource and infrastructure capacity, and thereby upgrade the technological level of the national media, the Ministry is introducing advanced communication equipment at substantial expense so as to strength transmission capacity as well as program expansion.
He further explained that the Ministry is providing training opportunities to its members inside the country and abroad with a view to developing skilled manpower.
Mr. Ali Abdu went on to elaborate that the Ministry would step up its endeavors to achieve the goal of serving as a bridge towards promoting the Eritrean government's objective of building a responsible media with strong and extensive coverage that would provide nationals with balanced, accurate, and timely information, as well as enabling citizens inside the country and abroad get acquainted with the vision, policy and work program of the nation's leadership and ensuring active popular participation.
Stressing that there still remains a lot to accomplish on the part of the Eritrean media outlets, Mr. Ali expressed appreciation to all parties that extended moral, material and financial assistance to the Ministry.
A representative of the graduates expressed thanks to the Ministry for enabling the graduating batch to acquire journalism training in the University.
