Six Congolese soldiers from the 10 brigade stationed in Baraka of The Democratic Republic of Congo are being held in Rumonge pending interrogation after the Burundian navy caught a boat transporting Congolese soldiers in Burundian waters Monday night.

The Burundian army plans to hold talks with DR Congo after the interrogations, although the Congolese ambassador to Burundi said that he has no information regarding the soldiers' capture. These soldiers had already ransomed Burundian fishermen in Rumonge.

Fishermen reported that they had to give fish and 5 litres of fuel to this gang. Reports of robberies in Lake Tanganyika have increased over the six last months. The International Conference for the Great Lakes region offers a framework for the resolution of such incidents that involve trans-border security issues.
