Liberia: Assorted Seeds Arrive for Farmers

14 September 2007

Monrovia — The relief and development department of the New Water in the Desert Assembly (NWIDA) of Apostolic Pentecostal Church International (APCI) airlifted on August 31, 2007 a huge consignment of assorted vegetable seeds for distribution to farmers throughout Liberia. The one-hundred thousand-packet-seed shipment to Liberia includes ten (10) crop species of sixteen (16) varieties including garden beans, cabbage, collard greens, cucumber, eggplant, okra, onion, pepper, tomato and watermelon.

The shipment is a part of a 3-million-pack-seed distribution program over a 3-year period.

Seeds will be distributed to farmers in Brewerville, farmers in Montserrado County and individual group farmers including churches, schools, NGOs etc. as part of efforts to reduce poverty in Liberia by sowing seeds to fight hunger.
