Eritrean head of state Isaias Afewerke has today Attended Somali opposition group gathering in Eritrea.

The new alliance announced earlier this week as the "Alliance for the Liberation of Somalia" The identities of the 10-man executive committee's other members have not yet been revealed.

Addressing to the conference, the two appointed leaders for the new alliance, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, a chair of the alliance and of the executive committee and Sheikh Sharif appointed head of the central committee have both pledged that they would perform their duties for fearing Allah and based on justice.

Imam basher Dholla Yare, a delegate for the conference told Shabelle radio that the conference is due to closed later today, confirming that Eritrean president Isaias has attended the conference.

Eritrean president Isaias Afewerke has said few encouraging words in front of the delegates, according to Imam Dholla

The forging of the alliance in Asmara provides another bone of controversy between long-time enemies Eritrea and Ethiopia, who fought a border war in 1998-2000 and have, in the opinion of many analysts been fighting a proxy war over Somalia.
