Nairobi — Should the law stand, all the Anglo Leasing cases in which the Government committed Sh54 billion in two years will be wound up.
NEXUS-Defence Centre (euro 36.9 million). The case involves seizure of Kenya's embassy in the Netherlands over a Sh3 billion contract with a company that put up a military command centre in Karen code-named Nexus.
The company, Nederman, was granted permission to seize embassy after Kenya refused to enter defence in the case.
Attorney-general Amos Wako has since hired lawyers to represent the country in the case at the Hague.
Broadband Network for Postal Corporation of Kenya ($11.8 million) and Broadband Spectrum Network Operations & Control Project ($31.8 million)
Satellite receivers
The Kenya Postal Corporation has been sued by Universal Satspace in a Sh4 billion contract in Nairobi and London.
In the case, Universal Staspace switched off the corporation's satellite receivers after it failed to service the loan agreement.
Immigration security and Document control system (Sh31.9 million). The Government signed a contract with Anglo Leasing and Finance company for supply of a terrorist-proof passport system but the firm was later found to be non-existent. The deal was cancelled and commitment fees returned. Permanent secretaries Sylvester Mwaliko, Joseph Magari and Joseph Oyula were charged in court for abuse of office. The case is still pending before the High Court.
Forensic Science Laboratories, CID (Sh54.6 million).
Plans to build a forensic laboratory for the Criminal Investigations Department valued at Sh4.3 billion were nipped in the bud after it was found out that the same fictitious company was involved.
PS in the Office of the President Dave Mwangi was sacked while Mr Magari, Mr Oyula and Treasury official David Onyonka were charged with abuse of office. The case is pending in the High Court.
