Asmara — The availability of substantial investment opportunities and quality of minerals were highlighted at workshop organized in Australia. The workshop focusing on the situation of African minerals was attended by more than 300 representatives of 130 mining companies.
In a paper presented by the Director of Sub-Saharan Mining Company whch is operating in Eritrea, Mr. Mike Grifas, indicated that the outcome of the company's exploration work in Eritrea over the past 5 years is encouraging and that the quality and quantity of the minerals is up to standard. Noting that a number of investors are ready to invest their capital in partnership, he urged others to take similar steps.
Speaking on the occasion, the Eritrean Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Dr. Andeab Gebremeskel, thanked the organizers of the workshop and called on the Australian government, beyond its interest in African minerals, to play positive role in ensuring peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.
Following a meeting with a number of Australian friends of Eritrea and investors, the Ambassador called on them to avail themselves of the investment opportunities in Eritrea, besides making due contribution in enhancing relations between the peoples of the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Eritrean Community in Perth city donated 23,000 dollars towards augmenting the Martyrs' Trust Fund, as well as other equipments to the colleges of Mai-Nefhi and Hamelmalo.
