Tunisia: 2nd Edition of "Musiqat" International Festival to Celebrate Heritage And Diversity

13 September 2007

Tunis — From September 19 to October 6, 2007 , "The Ennejmat Ezzahra" Palace in Sidi Bou Said, also known as the Center for Arab and Mediterranean Music, will host the 2 nd edition of "Musiqat", a festival whose success last year testifies to the existence of a public avid for a rich, authentic, heritage inspired, music.

Over 13 days, 12 talented performers from 12 different countries will celebrate both heritage and diversity ranging from Tunisian heritage music, gnawa, gipsy, Persian and Celtic music.

The range and talent of the performers speaks volumes for the ambitious scope of the project.

Gathering together in such a magic space, such distinguished artists as Gabriela Mendes (Cap vert), Carlos Nunez (Spain), Halil Karaduman (Turkey), undoubtedly one of the world's best qanun players and Ali Reza Ghorbani (Iran), is bound to attract a public of real music lovers who will always prefer quality and depth, to the musical ersatz, one can find nowadays in contemporary music.

With all performances starting at ten in the evening because of Ramadan timings and with the relatively small number of places available at Ennejma Ezzahra, early bookings are recommended for a rare and precious moment of grace.
