The issue of match bonus is threatening the Super Falcons continued participation at the on-going FIFA Women's World Cup in China as the relationship between the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has turned sour.

The players are now accusing the association of starving them of money and wanting to deprive them a cut from the 100,000 US dollars participation fee FIFA has promised to pay the NFA.

The NFA, it was gathered, had promised to pay each player 750 US dollars for the 1-1 draw with Sweden but reneged on it, offering instead to pay only 500 US dollars, an action that angered the players who rejected the money.

Sanusi Mohammed, Assistant head of the International department of the NFA had to call the Chairman Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi back home who, to the amazement of the players ordered a further cut of the bonus to 400 US dollars.

Apart from the bonus brouhaha, the players have equally rejected the 30 US dollars the NFA is offering as daily allowance for them as they claimed the association had agreed to pay them US 75 dollars before they left Nigeria.

NFA Media Officer, Ademola Olajire denied that they ever agreed to pay US 75 dollars, saying the FA promised to pay only US 30 dollars.

This is coming at a time the NFA just survived a revolt from the Super Eagles who only agreed to play the Nations Cup qualifier in Warri last weekend on patriotic ground after the NFA told them it had no money to pay them winning bonus.
