Eritrea: NUEYS Central Council Holds 4th Regular Meeting

Asmara — The Central Council of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) held its 4th regular meeting in Asmara from September 14-15, during which it assessed the activities carried out this year and mapped out the action plan for the next year, in addition to approving its budget.

The Council noted that the holding of festivals in schools was significant in reinforcing nationalism and creativity, as well as in promoting education.

Commending the festival events in Sawa, and the one's in the Central and Anseba regions, the Council stressed the need for exerting vigorous efforts to ensure the success of the 3rd National Youth Festival that would be held in Sawa in July 2008, and thereby make the event play a vital role in strengthening the unity of youths inside the country and abroad. The festival should also upgrade youths' creative skills and knowledge.

Moreover, the Central Council adopted significant recommendations including the need to strength Himeret Association, book and other clubs, among others.

Speaking at the closing session, the Chairman of NUEYS, Mr. Sultan Seid, indicated that effective activities have been carried out through the collaboration of government institutions and partners; he called for greater collaboration in the future.
