Somalia: ARS Central Council Holding First Regular Meeting

Asmara — The Central Council of the Alliance for the Reliberation of Somalia (ARS) today began its first regular meeting in Asmara.

In today's session, the Council which was elected at the Congress for Liberation and Reconstitution of Somalia held in-depth discussion on the charter of the Alliance that was approved by the participants of the congress.

The Chairman of the meeting, Prof. Abdurahaman Aden Ibbi, indicated that the Council's current meeting will continue and would also name different commissions, in addition to appointing management heads for them.

It is to be recalled that the 191-member ARS Central Council was elected by the Asmara Congress for Liberation and Reconstitution of Somalia that was held from 6 to 13 September, 2007.

The council comprises senior officials, politicians, diplomats, community elders, associations abroad, Courts Union and others, thus representing all section of the Somali people.
