Boaventura Cardoso exhorts Angolans to preserve and value the country's cultural heritage

Angolan minister of Culture, Boaventura Cardoso Wednesday in Mbanza Kongo city, northern Zaire province, made an appeal for the preservation and valuing of the national cultural heritage to enable new generations to learn about the real history of that ancient Kingdom.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the International Round Table on Mbanza Kongo, which started Wednesday in that locality, the minister said that with the international community's cooperation, Angolan citizens have the duty and obligation to protect, enjoy and preserve the legacy for future generations.

"The event is seeking to gather all experts in different subjects so that our knowledge become more extensive and deep" - stressed Boaventura Cardoso.

The minister, who considered the task as hard and complex, said it is not impossible to carry it out, since it foresees testing the potentialities of Mbanza Kongo and reaffirm the cultural unity of Kongo, scattered in four neighbouring countries (Angola, DR Congo, Congo Brazzaville and Gabon).
