Sporting all-rounders Patrick Ochan (18) and Jimmy Okello (19) have been banned for life by the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA). The ban follows their disappearance at the end of the ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division III tournament last June in Darwin - Northern Territory, Australia.

Uganda beat Argentina by 91 runs in the final to complete a memorable unbeaten run but the players' celebrations were instantly muted after learning that Ochan and Okello had disappeared.

"By the rules of the association, we dissociate ourselves from the act [their disappearance] and ban them from playing cricket for Uganda ever again. They would have no cause to come back to us at all," William Kibuuka-Musoke, the chairman of UCA, told journalists and cricket website; Cricinfo last week.

"They will never represent Uganda in any international sport again. We passed this information around to all our sister associations. Their talent is now wasted," the tough talking Kibuuka-Musoke added.

Local tennis official James Kasumba told Daily Monitor that Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) had not yet met to decide on the duo's fate.

"We have not yet decided anything. I guess we shall not ban them as they were not on a tennis tour," Kasumba said.
