Bujumbura

The murder of Ntahimpereye François who was shot dead last night by men in uniforms has revealed divisions among the population of Buterere after the recent stay of dissidents of Palipehutu Fnl in this commune of Bujumbura city.

Ntahimpereye was killed last night but neither the police stationed in the nearby nor the population intervened to help the victims.

This murder is however alleged on the police by the local population. Since the deployment FNL dissidents in Butere commune, divisions among the local residents have risen.

Violence continues escalating in different areas of Bujumbura despite the presence of a considerable number of security forces. In Bubanza, at Gihanga, traders were ambushed by people in uniforms yesterday. This area borders with Rukoko savannah which is a stronghold of FNL-Palipehutu and which has served as a hiding zone for various gangs robbers.
