Minna — NIGER State Government has signed a road construction contract to the tune of N1.3 billion for the dualization of Minna township roads.

Signing on behalf of the state government, the state Commissioner of Works and Infrastructural Development, Alhaji Sani Ndanusa said the roads to be constructed include Yakubu Lame/Ibrahim Aliyu road 2.5 Km linking the western by-pass at a cost of N543.02 million.

Ndanusa said the second road will commence at Bahago roundabout through Zarumai/Musa Zago and Mua'zu Mohammed road and terminate at Keteren Gwari road at a cost of N809,139,700.

He said the signing of the contract portrayed the present administration's commitment to tackling the infrastructural development of the state in line with the vision of the governor in transforming the state into the three top economies in the country by the year 2020.

The commissioner stated that, it was the desire of the administration to ensure that all urban areas of the state are developed and provided with standard infrastructure so as to attract the much needed investment in the state.

He then congratulated the two contractors for winning the contract which he said was competitive and based strictly on due process introduced by their administration.

The Commissioner, however, advised the contractors to strictly adhere to the contract terms, the scope of work and specification materials as well as equipment and time schedule in carrying out the work, as the era of accepting shoddy work were over.
