Kampala — HERMAN Byaruhanga will head the coaching department of the national Special Olympics team that departs today for China. The team is up against several other competitors in the World Summer Games Special Olympics starting October 2.

The global show for athletes with mental disabilities is held every four years.

Byaruhanga's charges include Kakinda Sebuwufu who is the overall captain.

Byaruhanga will lead a technical team of six other coaches determined to help their athletes secure glory.

"We have no injury worries and I am sure the athletes will win medals," Byaruhanga explained.

At the last two editions, Uganda secured a total of 17 gold medals in both the individual and team sports.

According to the director Special Olympics Uganda Edward Babumba, travelling as overall team leader, 20 athletes will compete in five disciplines.

The President's office, Bank of Uganda and Capital Markets Authority have facilitated the team.
