New York — The Angolan Head of State, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, on Tuesday here said that while Angola presided recently the UN commission for "we are happy to record, as important progresses, the consolidation of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Liberia".
Jose Eduardo dos Santo said so while speaking at the 62nd General Assembly of the United Nations, whose works will analyse and debate, until 03 October, themes like terrorism and the international panorama.
But President Eduardo dos Santos reminded that there is still the prevailing conflicts between Ethiopia and Eritreia, in Darfur (Senegal) and it is still not solved the matter of self determination in Western Sahara.
The Angolan statesman affirmed that he is convinced that the United Nations are engaged in seeking for the resolution of these problems at short term and that UN forces will be displaced in Darfur.
Luanda, Angola's capital city, host the headquarters of the Guinea Gulf commission, and there were recently gathered, the representatives of the South Atlantic Co-operation Zone.
Both institutions are promoters of peace, security, stability and co-operation among the member countries, in line with the United Nations Charter.
