Assab

The inhabitants of the Ayumen administrative area in the Southern Red Sea region have carried out soil and water conservation activities as part of efforts to achieve food security.

The popular campaign to this end included water diversion schemes, the building of terraces, and the digging of wells, among others. Officials in the administrative area pointed out that the local inhabitants are keen to expand farm plots and grow vegetables on a large scale.

Citizens in other parts of the administrative area are actively participating in road construction endeavors and putting in place water storage facilities.
