New York

The Eritrean delegation headed by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh took part in the Africa-China Consultations in New York City. The consultations in which foreign ministers from 48 African countries together with China participated reviewed the stage of implementation of the work program of the Beijing Declaration adopted in 2006 by the Africa-China summit conference. Besides, the consultative meeting held discussion on major regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Participants of the meeting praised the achievements scored in Africa-China relations and agreed to reinforce strategic ties between Africa and China, step up efforts to enhance Chinese investment in the African continent, and reaffirm their support to one-China policy.

Reports also indicated that Foreign Minister Osman Saleh took part in the meeting held earlier this week, also in New York, which addressed the international community's responsibility to meet the challenge of climate change. He also held discussions on regional and international issues with a number of counterparts. It is to be recalled that the Eritrean delegation headed by Mr. Osman Saleh left for the UN Headquarters in New York to take part in the 62nd Session of the UN General Assembly.
