Windhoek — Namibia has been elected to serve for three years on the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication announced yesterday.
"Namibia was elected to one of 13 seats of the Part 3 section on the ICAO Council during a meeting in Montreal, Canada," Minister Joel Kaapanda said in a statement. There were 17 countries seeking election. "My delegation (of seven staff) worked seven days per week including after hours to ensure that Namibia is elected," Kaapanda said.
Serving three years on the ICAO would promote Namibia's image in the international aviation community, the statement said.
