Kampala — A TEAM of senior police officers from Iran is in the country to assess the training needs of the Police force.
The team of 13 police officers, led by their Deputy Inspector General of Police Brig. Gen. Ali Reza Jazini Dorcheh, jetted into the country on Monday afternoon and will stay for five days.
The assistant police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba, said their visit follows an earlier trip to Iran by the Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura.
She pointed out that the training programme which would follow would be in the areas of counter terrorism and crime intelligence.
Since their arrival, the team has visited the Police air wing, the marine unit,the Mobile Police Patrol Unit, the criminal investigation directorate, Interpol, Kampala Central Police Station and the dog section.
On Thursday, the team left for the Masindi Police Training School Kabalye to assess the training facilities.
The Police have stepped up training ahead of the CHOGM.
Recently over 1000 Special Police Constables were passed out to specifically deal with counter-terrorism and petty crime.
The British, South African and North Korean Police is also training the Uganda force ahead of CHOGM.
