Eritrea participated in the 36th general meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization that was conducted from 18 to 28 September in Montreal, Canada.

In the meeting, where 1435 people representing 190 countries and 36 NGOs participated, several committees, including those for executive body, security, technology, economy, law and environment were established.

After in depth discussion regarding finance, budget administration and the activities of regional and international civil aviation organizations, member states adopted timely and practical resolutions. However, as reports from the area indicate, 14 countries were restricted from voting for not fulfilling the necessary requirements.

During the meeting, the Director General of the Eritrean Civil Aviation, Mr. Paulos Kahsai presented a detailed briefing regarding the ongoing endeavors by the Warsai-Yikeallo campaign to develop aviation infrastructure. Mr. Paulos also briefed participants about the projects that have already been implemented as well as those in the process of implementation aimed at establishing a secure and effective aviation transport system.
