Lagos — The growing number of activities to celebrate Afro beat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti continues death, even 10 years after his demise. Indeed, his fame is on a glorious flight and his larger than life image is ever ascending. Little wonder his followers would not let certain days tied to memory pass unnoticed. The tow most celebrated dates in rememberance of Fela are August 2, when he passed on and October 15, the day he was born. And since many like to think Fela Lives, the tendency is to pay more attention to the day he was born.
If he were to be alive, Fela, who was fondly called Abami Eda (the strange one) by his cult-like fans and follower, would have completed another year on October 15. The French Cultural Centre (FCC) has taken it upon itself to host some of the activitives marking this year's edition of Felabration. There will be an exhibition of his works, clothes, photographs and memorabilia at the French Cultural Centre, lkoyi, Lagos from the October 9th to 14. it will be followed by musical performances by various Nigeria artistes of repute.
The hallmark of the whole show is on October 15th when there will be wining and dining at the new African Shrine, Agidingbi amidst plenty of music. For the first time, Seun and the Egypt 80 band will be performing at the Felabration. Expect to see him belt out some tunes from his father's repertoire and his yet to be released album.
