Freetown — Presidential Spokesperson, Alpha Kanu has debunked claims that the transition team set up by President Ernest Bai Koroma in order to ensure a smooth transition between the then SLPP government to that of the All Peoples Congress government was low.
Speaking to Concord Times via cell-phone over the weekend, Kanu said the team comprised mainly professionals, "with a minimum of BA Degree, PHD in Accountancy, Engineering and so on." "It is incorrect," Kanu said of the claims and adds, "Our government will not put those who are not professionals in such positions." He disclosed that members of the team are presently being paid out of the President's pocket and not out of government coffers.
Kanu also confirmed that the team is made up of sixty members who are reputable citizens of the country.
