The Liberia Bank for Development and Investment over the weekend officially opened its eighth branch in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.

Several prominent citizens of Grand Bassa County, including foreign investors and government officials graced the colorful opening ceremony.

Speaking during the opening of the Liberian-owned bank, the president and chief executive officer of LBDI Francis A. Dennis expressed thanks and appreciation to the people of Grand Bassa; most especially the leadership of the county.

He promised that his institution would provide safe and reliable services to the people of Bassa during the operational period of the bank.

Mr. Dennis confirmed that the initiative has long been on the minds of the bank's executives to open the branch on July 26th 2007; but due to some unfinished business the process was postponed.

He said in addition to the Buchanan branch more branches are expected to be opened in other parts of the country where the business environment is up to the task.

Mr. Dennis in a friendly mood challenged the people of Buchanan to take advantage of the opportunity and called on them to put their trust in the bank; adding that "this is the most reliable way to save your money and let it grow".

The Liberian banker stated that one of the opportunities that the bank currently provides is that it connects all of its branches; meaning that one can access one's account from any of the other branches.

"In addition we provide loans to our many customers that meet international standards with interest," Mr. Dennis added.

He also urged those who would receive loans from the bank to pay back on time; as this will be the only way in which the bank would continue its operation.

He said the bank as an investment institution would also look at other forms of investment in Liberia; like investing in the rubber and sugar industries.

Mr. Dennis further thanked the Liberian construction firm that carried on the construction work on the facility of the bank.

Responding on behalf of the government and people of Grand Bassa County, the senior senator, Milton Findley thanked the management of LBDI for extending its operation in the county.

He said over the years there has been an acute absence of banking institutions in the county but stated that with the guarantee of security in the county banks are now beginning to open around the country.
