FNL dissidents and those FNL members who are still loyal to Agathon Rwasa clashed during the night of Monday 1october 2007 in the Kibira forest.

The fighting took place in the commune of Musigati of Bubanza commune. These clashes claimed the lives of 2 dissident combatants and wounded many more.

Three mortars were shelled into the camp where more than 400 dissidents were stationed. The attack claimed the lives of two dissident combatants. More than ten dissidents were seriously wounded and were taken to the military hospital for treatment.

This is the fourth time that these two factions have fought. More than 20 dissidents were killed and many more were wounded in fighting in Bururere earlier this year. After this attack, a controversy emerged as to whether the National Defence Army or the National Police should defend these dissidents.

FNL members continue to leave the ranks of Agathon Rwasa for the newly formed faction which claims to be for peace. More than 45 combatants are waiting at the Headquarters of Bubanza province to be transferred to Rugazi.
