Angola: Ladies Team Already in Luanda

Luanda — The country's senior ladies basketball team returned this Wednesday afternoon to Luanda after finishing third at the African Females Basketball Championship, held in Senegal.

Speaking to the media at "4 de Fevereiro" international airport, moments after their arrival, Aníbal Moreira, the team's coach, said that the team fulfilled the objectives by occupying the three top spots of the competition.

According to the coach, the bronze medal that was conquered resulted from the attitude and discipline that athletes showed during the competition.

"This victory is entirely dedicated to my players, due to their spirit and effort during the competition. Even whilst facing difficult moments they knew how to compete at the event and dignified the country's colours", he stated.

Angola beat Mozambique by 73-58 for the third place, thus conquering a place at pre-Olympic tournament, a qualifier for the Pequim Games of 2008, in China.
