Tunis — A major economic forum dubbed the "Tunisia Economic Forum" will take place north of Tunis on November 9-10, 2007 . The event which is part of the activities scheduled for the 20 th anniversary of the November 7, 1987 , Change, will be held under the patronage of President Ben Ali.
The forum which will bring together senior Tunisian, Arab and international officials, business and investment leaders, heads of banks and corporations, economists and other experts is organized by Al Iktisad Wal- Aamal group, the Tunisian Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) , the Financial Market Council in Tunisia and the Tunisian Union for industry, commerce and handicrafts (UTICA).
It aims not only at analyzing new developments in Tunisia's rapidly modernizing economy in light of the country's 11 th development plan, but also at attracting investment opportunities including those related to the major infrastructure projects and mega projects launched by the Tunisian government at a time when the country is in the final phase of full accession to the European Partnership Agreement.
The main topics and issues that will be addressed and discussed include:
Tunisia 's mega projects include the Enfidha international airport and its deep water port, an oil refinery at La Skhira, an electric power plant in the South of the country, an expressway network in Tunis and in other cities, and the Tunis Cultural City .
Alongside these projects, a new city will spring up from the Tunis Southern Lake area ,as part of a cooperation agreement between the Emirati group "Sama Dubai" and the Tunisian authorities. Both President Ben Ali and Sheikh Mohamed Al Rashed Al Maktoum inaugurated the project on August 7, 2007 , by laying the founding stone of what will be known as the "City of the century".
