Monrovia — The Liberia Taekwondo National team on Tuesday carried out a one-day sensitization and awareness campaign in upper and lower Margibi County as part of the sports ministry's theme to take sports to the communities The 12th member Lone Star Taekwondo team, including Captain, Junior Railey, Mickey Oldfield, Mark Lee and the only female youthful practitioner, Patience Railey among others, performed splendidly during the martial arts exhibition, at the team's first stop in Kakata City; displaying several self-defense and physical fitness techniques.
The Taekwondo national flag-bearers again held the breath of sports enthusiasts of Margibi county when the team displayed several magnificent feats in conclusion of the day-long awareness activities in Firestone's populated Harbel market, which began with free-style techniques and some group drills displayed by individual players.Technical Director of the national taekwondo outfit, Master Pewee Russian, speaking at the end of the county-tour said, the exhibition was intended to give the sporting populace a broader knowledge about the practice of Taekwondo; among other martial arts sporting disciplines, which according to him, are being negatively portrayed by movie-makers. He also used the occasion to urge individual Liberians to begin cultivating the true spirit of nationalism, by placing their country first in all of their endeavors.
