Angola: Education Sector Advises Teachers for Honesty

6 October 2007

Luanda — Luanda's provincial Education director, André Soma Friday urged teachers to abide by honesty and give their unconditional contribution to the training of the new generation.

The official, who was speaking to the press on the occasion of the World Teachers' Day, October 05, considered teachers as "front line fighters", advising the class for more cohesion and unity so that the society continues considering the sector as the promoters of changing minds.

He said he recognises that although teachers still lack the desired working and social conditions, they should still abide by good performance, since they are dealing with a noble profession.

He urged the class to combat corruption and all kinds of illegal activities, such as charging money, changing results by favour and other activities that tarnish the profession.
