Harare — Bitter at how she had been ditched by her boyfriend, a Harare woman dumped her two week old baby boy at a stranger's house in Kuwadzana.

Patience Gweshe (20) of House Number 11 Glamis Road in Hatfield gave birth to a baby boy on September 15 but her boyfriend allegedly denied responsibility. On September 27, Gweshe carried her baby and boarded a bus to Kuwadzana where she dumped it on the doorstep at House Number 10454 Kuwadzana Phase 3.

Mrs Miriam Chisango is the owner of the house.People who live at the house discovered the baby late in the evening and informed Mrs Chisango. Mrs Chisango took the baby into her house before taking it to the police where she made a report.

Gweshe returned to the house two days later pretending to be the sister to the woman who had dumped the baby.She wanted the baby back.Mrs Chisango informed the police about the issue and investigations established that she was the mother of the baby.She was subsequently arrested and has appeared in court facing charges of exposing an infant.

Yesterday, Gweshe pleaded guilty to the charges before magistrate Ms Olivia Mariga and was remanded to today for sentence.
