Zimbabwe: Charges Withdrawn

Harare — Glen View  legislator Paul Madzore and 14 party activists accused of undergoing terrorism training in South Africa, yesterday, had their charges withdrawn before plea.

Harare area public prosecutor, Mr Tawanda Zvekare told the court that the State wished to withdraw charges against the men saying they would proceed by way of summons if more evidence cropped up.

Seven other men who were being charged with attempted murder on allegations that they petrol-bombed Zanu-PF district offices in Mbare were also set free on the same condition. Ian Makone, Dennis Murira and Morgan Komichi, who were accused of recruiting and funding insurgents or terrorists, were also removed from remand. However, Ishmael Kauzani, who is being charged with three counts of attempted murder and one of malicious damage to property after allegedly bombing three police stations and a commuter train remained on remand.

Harare magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini remanded him out of custody to December 6 this year.
