Eritrea: Festival 2007 in Italy Concludes With Patriotic Zeal

Festival Eritrea 2007 in Rome, Italy concluded on October 7 with patriotic zeal. Seminars, art exhibitions, different cultural and sports activities, as well as programs focusing on youth and children were staged at the Festival that won admiration on the part of the participants.

In the course of the Festival, the Secretary of the PFDJ, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed Seid, conducted a seminar on the current political, economic and diplomatic situation in the Homeland. He pointed out that the people and Government of Eritrea are registering major achievements in endeavors to ensure food security, expanding social services and infrastructure, as well as developing human resource capacity within the framework of the Warsay-Yikaalo Development Campaign.

Mr. Al-Amin further called on nationals inside the country and abroad to be ready to meet any eventuality, in addition to stepping up their participation in the national development drive.

As regards the prevailing situation in the region, the PFDJ official indicated that in view of the fact that the prevalence of peace in the Horn equally benefits Eritrea, it is exerting effective and coordinated diplomatic endeavors aimed at promoting peace in the region, and thereby laying the groundwork for future generations.

Similarly, the Head of Research and Documentation at the PFDJ, Mr. Zemhret Yohannes, gave briefings to Eritrean youth in Italy on the significance of building organizational capacity and in making history on the basis of the experience acquired by their older brothers and sisters.

Likewise, the Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Zemede Tekle, called on the youth to live up to their nation's expectations. He also handed certificates of thanks to 8 Italian Friends of Eritrea.

Moreover, Mr. Al-Amin and Ambassador Zemede handed out certificates and trophies to both the Eritrean and Italian citizens who demonstrated excellence in different competitions at the Festival and made due contribution to its success.

Relevant Links

The Eritrean Keih Meriet cultural troupe and Eritrean singers from Holland staged musical performances, thus adding color to the Festival. More than 2,000 Eritreans and Italian Friends of Eritrea from the cities of Milan, Rome, Turin, Bologna, Bresha, Bari, Naples, Katanga, Teramo and others took part in the Festival, according to reports.
