The police arrested the spokesman of the Frodebu party, Mr. Pancrace Cimpaye, on the night of this Monday 8 October in the pub called Mambo bado" located tens of meters from Mr. Cimpaye's home.
This arrest was orchestrated by Bertin Gahungu. The police questioned him about how he escaped two attempted arrests, where he was hiding and how he managed to come back. He was released shortly after the interrogation.
Mr. Pancrace Cimpaye reappeared on Monday, more than one month after he went into hiding when the police decided on 22 August to arrest him on charges of outrage to the Head of State. The judicial police failed to apprehend him after a minute and forceful cordon-and- search.
The Presidency of the Republic ordered on 6 October that Mr. Pancrace Cimpaye should be free to move about as he pleases. The Head of State announced this decision to the leaders of Frodebu as part of his attempt to rebuild his relationship with opposition political parties pursuant to deals made between the Head of State and Frodebu.
The leader of Frodebu, Honorable Léonce Ngendakumana, said that he is outraged by this harassment of supporters of his party. Honorable Ngendakumana also added that talks between his party and the Head of State will continue despite this incident.
