Eritrea: Ambassador Presents Credentials to Governor General of New Zealand

Asmara — Eritrean Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand, Dr. Andeab Gebremeskel, presented his credentials to the Governor General of New Zealand, Mr. Anand Satyanand, on October 3.

During the presentation ceremony, Dr. Andeab conveyed a message of greetings from President Isaias Afwerki, and stated that Eritrea is exerting relentless efforts to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

Mr. Anand Satyanand on his part said that the role Eritrea is playing in promoting lasting peace in the Horn of Africa, in general, and in the East and South Sudan issues, in particular, could be taken as an exemplary model. He added that New Zealand holds a similar stance as Eritrea on the Somali issue.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Andeab held talks with the Foreign Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Hon Winston, on bilateral relations and the prevailing situation in the Horn of Africa. He also conducted a seminar to more than 200 Eritreans residing in that country, regarding the on-going national reconstruction programs and the endeavors being made to achieve food security.
