President Isaias Afwerki returned home today, concluding a two-day work visit to Libya at the invitation of the country's leader, Brother Muammar Al-Khadafi.

In a meeting they held yesterday, Presidents Isaias and Muammar Al-Khadafi assessed relations between the two sisterly countries, especially the activities being carried out to further enhance relations in trade and investment, and in other domains. The two leaders also discussed ways of effectively implementing cooperation programs, and thereby strengthening bilateral relations. They took note that the relations are registering promising prospects at present.

Moreover, in view of the fact that the two countries share common views in regards to regional issues, both sides agreed on the establishment of a coordination mechanism that would also involve other parties.

Also, taking note of the fact that efforts to make a regional organization live up to its expectations did not yet produce the desired outcome, both leaders reached agreement on the need for exerting vigorous joint endeavors towards strengthening the African Union.
