Nigeria: Tella's Health Worries NFA

12 October 2007

Lagos — The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) is concerned over the health of Coach Theophilus Adeyemi Tella, chief coach of the U-17 national male team that won the Cadet World Cup for Nigeria last month, after the 57-year old was taken to hospital on Wednesday morning.

Coach Tella, a former lecturer at the National Institute for Sports (NIS) in Lagos, was diagnosed to have cancer of the lungs just as he led his team to the pre-World Cup 8-Nation Tournament in Korea in June. He was treated for several weeks on the bill of the NFA before regaining good health to lead the Eaglets to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup last month.
