Harare — Nine former Pengaudzoke band members, who left the group when Daiton and Josphat Somanje reunited, have formed their own band.
Edmore Makoni who manages the new group Vadhauki Express said they left because they could not work in a group that had 27 members.
Makoni said they left Pengaudzoke amicably. Some of the members who left include Makoni who doubled as Daiton's manager and rhythm guitarist, bass guitarist, lead guitarist and a backing vocalist. Rather than creating a serious and stiff competition, Makoni said, it was wiser that some left the group to start another music project.
He said they were already rehearsing for their forthcoming album. Group promoter, Tendai Ngomahuru, said the group would embark on live shows this weekend to expose themselves. "The group will be playing at B5
in Budiriro this weekend and this is the beginning of a series of shows aimed at taking the group to its fans. "The shows we have lined up will give us a correct picture of where Vadhauki Express is going," Ngomahuru said.
Ngomahuru said the group would be recording its debut album before the end of this year.
Daiton said he had no problem with the members forming their own band.
