Harare — Mbira DzeNharira, Cephas Mashakada and Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave have been added onto the list of groups that will perform at this year's Africa Tourism Night Concert at the Harare International Conference Centre tomorrow.
The inclusion of Mbira DzeNharira, Mashakada and Zvakavapano-Mashavave in the star-studded line-up raises the appeal of the Zimbabwe International Tourism Exposition musical bash. Tongai Moyo and the Zimbabwe Cultural Ensemble will also perform alongside the Congolese rhumba group Extra Musica, South Africa-based pop outfits -- Mafikizolo and Bongo Maffin as well as Botswana's kwaito wonderkid Odirile "Vee" Sento. In an interview, Tendai Gahamadze of Mbira Dzenharira hailed the event as the right platform to market Zimbabwe as a safe tourism haven.

Gahamadze, who is enjoying enormous success with his latest album Fare Fare Tindike, has urged revellers to turn up in large numbers at the event that brings together some of Africa's finest songsmiths. "This is also a cultural night where some of the continent's top artistes will meet and we urge people to come and see for themselves," he added. Courage Mashavave, husband-cum-manager of gospel diva Fungisai, echoed similar sentiments and hailed the event organisers for honouring gospel musicians at the event.
"We would like to thank the organisers for including gospel music in the line-up and we hope we will do our best. "Another thing that I would like to mention about the event is that it comes at a time when we are doing better in the build up to the 2010 world to be staged on Africa," said the manager. Mashakada could not hide his excitement. "I feel humbled to be part of the big event and that alone shows that the band is growing and we hope to return the favour by delivering our best," he said. Moyo, who was part of last year's concert, said he was eager to learn more from other artistes, especially the much-acclaimed Extra Musica.
"Last year, I was impressed by Bongo Maffin and this year
