FORMER Tanzanian champions Young Africans have sacked their Malawian coach Jack Chamangwana.

The move could plunge the mass-supported club that has been bedevilled by a series of problems in deep trouble.

A successor for the former Malawian international star is yet to be named.

Local media yesterday quoted club chairman Iman Madega as saying he had relieved the coach of his duties for allegedly being linked to the abduction of the team by an unknown gang of people last week.

Madega said he reached the decision after the coach had ignored directives of the club leadership issued after a meeting held in Morogoro with the players.

The players had hitherto threatened to boycott Sunday's match against Mtibwa Sugar of Manungu.

But after the meeting, the coach ordered the players to return to Dar- es-Salaam to meet club bosses.

Chamangwana said he had not been notified of the sacking, adding that he would accept it if it was made formal.

Chamangwana helped the club win the national championship a year after taking charge.

He took over from Razak Siwa, who replaced Serbian Milutin Sredojevic who later handled Uganda's former champions SC Villa.
