Celtel has launched two boreholes and a new BTS in rural communities within the South-west region.

Era which is located in Ijanikin, Lagos state and Itekun, Ogun state which was part of the old Lagos boundary were both sites for the borehole launch while Gbaji community, Badagry, was put on the Celtel coverage map with the launch of a BTS.

The Era community borehole project was commissioned after the company sited a BTS in Era while the company was under the name of Vmobile and was launched and handed over to the community recently by the GM Lagos Region, Ayodeji Gbeleyi. Special guests at the occasion were the Onilogbo of Ilogbo who was represented by Alhaji Chief N.O. Ashade, the Babaloja of Ilogbo, Chief Ezekiel Emmanuel, The Olotu Ipetu of Eraland, also the Chief host, and other high chiefs and local government representatives.

The siting of a BTS in Igbesa also prompted the commissioning of a Borehole project through the old Celtel's Lagos Region and was also launched on the same day by by the GM Lagos Region and the GM of Celtel South West Region who was represented by Victor Nwaobia, Manager Trade & Coverage Marketing, South west Region.

The BTS launch at Gbaji village was also piloted by the GM Lagos Region and was graced by representatives of the youths association and community development associations on Saturday, September 29, 2007.

The reception accorded the Celtel team was very impressive especially at Itekun which also saw the conferment of the title of Otunba Asoludero (literally meaning Chief Making Life Better) on the Lagos Region GM. All communities received the company with open arms and promised better patronage and support in keynote addresses delivered by the Royal fathers at the events although appeals were also made for further assistance in the area of power supply, youth empowerment and job creation.
