Eritrea: Anseba Region Reinforces Community Based Rehabilitation for the Handicapped

The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare branch office in the Anseba region disclosed that efforts are being reinforced to ensure community based rehabilitation for the handicapped nationals. Reports indicated that such efforts are meant to equip the handicapped with the needed skills to lead independent lives.

Head of the social welfare department in the region, Mr. Yirge'alem Mussie, said that the ministry is doing its level best to raise social awareness on the needs of handicapped people and is training village rehabilitation workers.

According to reports, the ministry has offered financial assistance to 30 families in terms of loan, out of which 29 families have returned their loan and were able to upgrade their standard of living.

90 individuals from eight sub zones of the region received training on caretaking in eight different types of disabilities.
