Eritrea: Efforts Stepped Up to Ensure Food and Water Security in Geleb Sub Zone

Geleb — The office of economic development in the Geleb sub zone, Anseba region, reported that the inhabitants of the sub zone are carrying out successful development campaigns to ensure food and water security.

Mr. Solomon Kifle, head of the office stated that inhabitants of Gerbet are renovating a water reservoir to ensure water security.

Mr. Saleh Osman, administrator of the Gerbet district on his part pointed out that most of the manpower is currently engaged in laying the foundation and collecting stones. He also added that the participation of women in the renovation process is quite commendable.

The inhabitants of Geleb sub zone have built over 13 thousand cubic meters of terraces, about 33 thousand meters of embankments and over 30km of roads in an effort to conserve soil and water.

Similarly, they have built and renovated households for 25 families of fallen heroes and harvested 167 hectares of farmlands, sources from the place revealed.
