Kenya: Golf - Kiambu Player Wins Chairman's Prize At Karen

Nairobi — Kiambu Golf Club's Jane Njoroge beat the Kenya women's amateur champion Josephine Ainley on countback to win the Kenya Ladies Golf Union Chairman's Prize at Karen Country Club.

The long-hitting Njoroge, who had posted 84 during the first round, fired an impressive 76 gross in the closing round for a total of 160 gross to claim the Muthoni Muthiga Bowl in the two-day tournament sponsored by Magic Chemicals Limited. Nakuru's Ainley posted 81 and 79 to also finish on 160, losing to Njoroge on countback. Former women's champion Mary Karano finished third on 161. Winning the Lucie Maina Trophy on 169 was Grace Mucheru while the bronze title (Ann Watling Salver) went to Nakuru with Sarah Ainley on 172 gross. She won ahead of S. Bhavra (183) and R. Ragdev (184). The nett silver division champion is A. Martyres with nett 141 winning a shot from R. Kingori and M. Russell.
