Sierra Leone: U.S. Commissions Book Shelf At Kissy

Freetown — The United States Embassy in Freetown Thursday commissioned a book shelf at the Sierra Leone Library Board branch, Kissy.

Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy, Danna Van Brandt said the unveiling of the book shop was to enable readers to be abreast with international issues.

She said they are excited to open the book shelf adding that it will guide potential readers in the community.

Van Brandt maintained that the library is a valuable resource and called on readers to use the library as their research center.

"I want you to make good use of the book shelf," she said.

Elizabeth Susie Pratt, Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy said Sierra Leone has many libraries across the country adding that they have a tradition of distributing books to libraries across the continent.

She noted that they hope to continue their partnership with the Sierra Leone Library Board.

Chief Librarian, Sierra Leone Library Board, Victor Coker lauded the American Embassy for commissioning the book shelf adding that it will help broaden the knowledge of the readers.

He said the book shelf will serve as a means to bring people closer.
